Bear in mind that these memories are from 1965-70 whilst I was an apprentice at Capital Motors.

I remember working on the 30/98, having to take out the steering column and getting soaked in very runny oil, I think it was power steering fluid but may be wrong.

I know it had been fitted with a brake servo under the seats ( maybe by Terry Slater )  so did we also fit power steering?

Only the foreman, Freddy Hall,  was permitted to drive it around the workshop so I never got to drive it. I do remember it arriving with a hole in the cylinder block after one race.

We were all "car nuts" in the workshop but didn't realise how special the 30/98 was so I didn't take much notice or lay down any more memories than these.

I was aware of the Lotus factory having been just down the road and this photo was posed outside Capital Motors.

If you know who owns it now, and are allowed to tell me, I'd like to see it again. Maybe at a show or when the Vauxhall Heritage collection are being displayed.....

Thanks for the photos, any more would be appreciated.
